We purchased an I2C Tool adapter for a PC to help us develop code and protocol for a brand new complex chip from one of the major manufacturers.

The support personnel at I2Ctools were helpful enough to look up the preliminary specifications of the chip and make recommendations for our approach.

As it turns out, the specification of the chip and the performance encompass a Venn diagram, but are not congruent. Nevertheless, using the I2Ctool, we have been able to develop very efficient code structures to utilize the chip.

To put a number on it, we were able to reduce the communication process with the chip from 12 steps to four steps.

In addition, the capability for the I2C tools to send single messages, sequences of messages and repeated sequences allowed us to measure execution times, delay times, and system status. Thus, we were able to fully evaluate the complex chip and only convert the final code sequence to control of the chip by the intended microprocessor.

We have used the I2C tool to develop code for less complex devices also and have found the I2C tools quick and efficient.

You could say that we are happy with the results achieved by the I2Ctools adapter and would recommend it for others who need to do rapid, stand-alone development for I2C devices.
